Romanian Fulbright Alumna is Among the 2020 Pulitzer Prize Winners

Fulbright alumna Monica Ulmanu is part of the Washington Post team that won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting. The prize was granted “for a groundbreaking series that showed with scientific clarity the dire effects of extreme temperatures on the planet.”

Monica Ulmanu is a graphics editor for The Washington Post. She joined The Post in 2018 from the Guardian newsroom in London where she worked as a special projects editor. Previously, she worked on the graphics desk at Thomson Reuters, Boston Globe, and as an intern at The New York Times.

After graduating from the University of Bucharest, Monica received a Fulbright award and earned a master's degree in visual communication at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
